Dual Board Certified in both Pain Management & Physical Medicine / Rehabilitaion, Dr. Sial is Harvard Fellowship trained in Pain Medicine.   Dr. Sial specializes in treating all spine disorders & all other pain syndromes.

Patient pain care is managed with a comprehensive physical exam to assess the pathology in order to successfully diagnosis and treat the pain.

With a multidisciplinary approach to pain treatment, minimally invasive procedures, physical therapy, chiropractic manipulation, psychotherapy, biofeedback, relaxation techniques, and medication are utilized.

It has become somewhat of an epidemic. Patients go in for spine surgery and expect to be completely healed within weeks. Legacy Health, a self-insured hospital system in Portland, Ore, recognized this overutilization of surgery and changed their system all together. In 2012, the hospital began requiring employees and family members seeking elective spine surgery to be assessed though pre-surgical appointments with a physical therapist and psychologist.

 

Over the past 20 years, spinal surgery rates have drastically increased. Even after surgical intervention, patients often return for a reappraisal of spine care because of unsuccessful results.
